No matter our occupation, working hours or age, we all have one thing in common: we all eat lunch. Whether we want to eat out, bring a packed lunch, or eat in the school canteen, Stekarn Food & Catering has just the thing.

In Sweden, lunch time is sacred, and we all have our individual preferences when it comes to food. We expect it to taste good, be affordable and to be served swiftly. In Uppsala (about an hour north of the Swedish capital Stockholm) there is a lunch restaurant that “ticks all the boxes”, where the focus is on well-prepared Swedish home cooking. It has been owned and run by Tarek Orfali since November 2015.
Stekarn offers lunch guests the choice of three dishes of the day, various salads and a pie. The first lunches are served at 9am, when craftsmen and others who start work early take a well-deserved food break. Office workers tend to drop in from 11am, and then there’s a steady flow of customers until 2pm. A takeaway frozen-food box option is also available.

The chef prepares around 150 lunches for the restaurant every day, as well as 150 meals for a nearby school – part of the catering service. This service also features both a buffet option and the best- selling “smörgåstårta” or Swedish sandwich cake.
“Our catering offering has broadened our business and given it a firmer financial foundation,” Tarek says. “Our customers all like to pay by card, and Bambora’s mobile terminal is a safe, secure and flexible solution that works well for them – and us.”

Tarek, a former entrepreneur and grocery store owner, bought the Bambora ONE payment solution when he took over Stekarn. “I need a desktop POS (point of sale solution) for the restaurant and a mobile reader for the catering side of the business. There is simply no other service provider with a better offering. The few times I have needed support, Bambora has helped me directly. It works perfectly.”

The aim is to hire an additional chef and expand the catering business – to increase capacity in other words. Tarek wants to supply food to more schools and make more delicious Swedish sandwich cakes.
